Braddock Bay Raptor Research is proud to present our 30th annual Bird of Prey Days!
Braddock Bay lies right in the path of 17 species of raptors as they travel from their wintering grounds to their spring nesting areas. Each spring, this location is witness to huge kettles of Broad-winged hawks, Turkey vultures, and Sharp-shinned hawks. Each season, our official counter tallies hundreds of Bald Eagles and Red-shouldered hawks, our licensed raptor banders capture hundreds of Red-tailed and Cooper’s hawks, and our volunteers troll the woods counting Northern Saw-whet and Long-eared owls at this “rest-stop” before continuing their migration. While you may have seen these amazing birds on the wing, you may not have seen them in the hand. We have the only raptor banding station open to the public without an appointment in the country! Our full schedule of education programs, which cater to all levels of bird watching, will provide you that chance to see a hawk, owl or eagle up close and personal!
There is one entry fee for entire weekend: $5 per adult (suggested donation). Kids are FREE.
Program highlights will include:

The best way to learn about the migration of raptors at Braddock Bay is to get out in the field and witness the spectacle first hand. A great way to do that is to join an experienced BBRR guide on a Hawk Banding Tour at our Main Banding Station. Visitors will have the chance to witness the banding process first hand, and maybe even get a chance to adopt a hawk! Suitable for all ages, but please note that there will be a need for quiet and calm behavior in the banding station.
Registration is requested for these programs, and space is limited. To sign up, please call 585-BOP-LIVE or send an e-mail to information@bbrr.org. There is a suggested donation fee of $3 per person.
